Easter Projects

My hubby and I host his family for Easter every year. As I was planning this weekend, I came across these pics from our very first Easter dinner, back in 2006.

The centerpiece on the left was super-simple and so much cuter in person (sorry about the dark photos!). I started with a vase of wheat grass. I made the paper "eggs" using an extra-large oval-shaped punch. Then, I glued them onto lollipop sticks and inserted them into the wheat grass. So easy! The bunny decoration was a last-minute addition. A bit cutesy but at the time, I was working at Parents Magazine so kid-friendly crafts were always on my brain!

For the wineglass tag/placecard on the right...I used leftover business-cards from Paper-Source. I wrote each guest's name and added a cute little sticker. To finish, I punched a hole in the corner, thread a piece of ribbon through and tied it to the glass. Easy, right?

This year I'm planning a spring theme using lots of hot pink. How will you decorate for Easter?

Cupcake Love

(image via MarthaStewartLiving.com)

In my opinion, cupcakes are bliss. So much so I even attempt to bake them from scratch. Here is one of my favorites...a Chocolate Graham Cracker Cupcake with Toasted Marshmallow Frosting. I found it via the Martha Stewart Living website but it comes from Jennifer Shea, the owner of Trophy Cupcakes in Seattle (go check out the Web site, it's so great). They take a little work but come out delicious!

I Dream of Wallpaper

(image from Target.com)
I just turned in an article about wallpaper trends to a local magazine. (It will be out in May and I'll post it here!). I was really blown away by all of the amazing prints, patterns, textures and color combinations that are out there. Not to mention all of the eco-friendly choices!

Last weekend I spent hours online gazing at pattern after pattern. But I have to admit, I spent most of my time at Target.com. Really? Yes. They have a huge variety of cool wallpapers at great prices! The image above is of "Damask" by Graham & Brown (one of my faves) available at Target.com. I'm thinking of using it on an accent wall in my craft room. What would you do with it?
