Tech Geek Chic

While browing the New York Times this morning, this gorgeous red leather iPad case from Yves Saint Laurent caught my eye. Be still my heart.

Now, please realize, I do not own an iPad, nor do I plan to buy one (well maybe if prices drop) but I am crushing hard on this case, even though it costs as much as the iPad itself.

Begs the question: Can fashion make technology cool?

I say yes and really, it has...here are a few chic examples...

Harpers Bazaar chronicled the 7 Best Designer iPad cases last spring (Chanel {see pic below}, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, they all have one...YSL is still my fave though!)
Vivienne Tam designed this fab HP "digital clutch" bursting with pretty butterflies.

Kate Spade punched up the iPhone with its polka dot cover.

What about you? Do you splurge on accessories for your favorite gadgets?

Inspired by: Balmain

I was recently reading Degaine, a lovely Canadian-based fashion and style blog and fell in love with these photos she had posted from the Balmain fashion show back in February. I fell in love with each and every one of these looks...the fabrics have my head spinning!

The trends are also so close to what we are seeing in home interiors right now as well that I decided to have a little fun and share a few accessories finds to match!

The rich aubergine hue of this plush pillow is a great match!

This print is so similar to outfit #2...don't you think?

This gorgeous Tibetan wool rug seems to be inspired by outfit #3!

Just like the striking black and cream/gold combo on that last outfit, this wallpaper brings the drama.

So how did I do? Hope you had as much fun reading as I did pulling this all together!

My Favorite Gowns at the Oscars...

I thought this year, the gowns were just fabulous! Well, not all of them...but most of them just blew me away! The current ladies of Hollywood certainly brought glamour back this year. Here are my favorites:

Sandra Bullock : The Golden Girl (and Oscar Winner!)
Gorgeous and classy in gold! And I read that she wore Chanel Rouge in Paris, a classic red. Amazing.

Jennifer Lopez: The Diva.
I LOVED this dress. The color was perfect for her skin tone and it hugged her curves perfectly. The train was quite the debate on Twitter last night, however, this dress would not have been the same without it!

Cameron Diaz: Shimmering Princess
She looked stunning in this gold, sparkly gown and she was quite funny on stage too.

Demi Moore : The Knockout
As Rachel Zoe would say (who probably dressed her) - this dress was bananas!
She is STUNNING and her body is just crazy good for 40+.

Penelope Cruz: Spicy Fashionista.
Loved the rich color and the gatherings on the dress...that treatment reminded me so much of my wedding gown, which I loved :)

Vera Farmiga : The Newcomer (that got to kiss George Clooney!)
I am a sucker for hot pink ruffles...this was amazing. She looked so fresh and modern.

Kristen Stewart: Fun, Fearless...and Shy
Even though she was so awkward on stage, the girl captured that modern-tortured-glamorous-Twilight look perfectly in her midnight navy gown.

How about you? Who wore your favorite gowns of the night?

Fashion Friday Babble: Hello, Ruffles!

If you're ready for spring dress-up, then ruffles are IT! They seem to be everywhere. I love how feminine and frilly they are...a breath of fresh air from the cold winter.

Lovely, must-have open toes from Badgley Mischka via Piperlime...

Gorgeous party frocks from Arden B....

A more casual, pretty pastel top from Banana Republic...

And yes, your home deserves a touch of feminine ruffles too...check out this spread of pillows from the March issue of Country Living...

Happy weekend!

Fashion Friday Babble: Classy Kate

If you are a regular reader (and if you are, thank you!) You know I am a huge fan of Kate Spade.

I was browsing the sale section on her site today and found this super-cute leopard print purse.

I love it. I totally see one of the fancy gals from Mad Men rocking this purse. If I could live in another decade, it would be then. In my real life, a leopard-print bag doesn't quite fit in.

Inspired by the classic, ladylike look of leopard print, I settled on these cute shoes this week...they are from Tahari by way of Bloomingdales and I adore them! I love the satiny fabric and the wedge heel.

I love how I can wear them with black or brown, dresses or pants. :)

I think I'll wear them to dinner tomorrow night...headed out for much needed girls nite! Kitchen A Trattoria in St. James (Long Island)...anyone ever been? Let me know!

Enjoy your weekend!

Diane Von Furstenberg to do a Home Colletion!

Attention all DVF fans! It was announced yesterday in Home Furnishing News that Diane Von Furstenberg will be launching a home line in spring of 2011!

Get ready to "wrap" (pun intended!) yourself up in her line of bedding, bath and tabletop items. I am so, so excited for this new line. Diane is such a pioneer in the fashion industry, and really for women entrepreneurs everywhere, I am sure she'll bring her fabulousness to the home as well!

She certainly has brought us gorgeous dresses, shoes and rugs over the years (these are amazing)...

I am dreaming of yummy fabrics and fantastic prints with a bit of humor :)

Dreamy Couture

Fashion is a secret passion of mine. If I had an endless supply of money (and a personal trainer) I would probably be a fashionista. But since I have neither, instead, I like to lose myself in photos such as these from the 2009 fall runway shows.

How could you not love this ruffly concoction from Chanel? So soft, feminine and pretty topped off with a fierce, black, satin ribbon. Amazing. This photo would be a great inspiration for a modern, romantic bedroom with a white ruffly down comforter, a black crystal chandelier and a mirrored dressing table.

And how completely gorgeous is this over-the-top pink skirt from the Christian Dior collection?

I first spotted it over at the Ruby PR blog (which I adore!). To me, it's a modern version of that amazing pink dress Marilyn Monroe wore when she sang "Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend" in the movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (a favorite movie of mine!). Then, when I saw the whole collection, it was like a vintage fashion show come to life! Kind of like the ones in favorite classic movies such as Funny Face and How to Marry a Millionaire.

Couture fashion might be insanely expensive and unattainable to most of us, but it offers such inspiration and keeps us daydreaming.
